The most amazing dancing feet

While I lived in London I went to see a show called 42nd Street. All four of us enjoyed the show immensely. The talent was astounding and the tunes irresistible. It’s not surprising that I returned a second time before departing London because nothing beats meeting those dancing feet. With such fond memories of a truly outstanding show, I wanted to share some crumbs on why I think it’s so magical.

Power in numbers

The cast of 42nd Street is large and when they’re all on stage together it is truly a spectacle. There is something inherently pleasing about seeing a large number of people dancing in perfect synchronicity. With their sparkling costumes, brilliant smiles and astounding talent, they draw you into the beat and amaze you at the powerful performance a group can provide. The biggest numbers in the show involve the whole team and together they provide an energetic performance that is most powerful in person, when you can sit and feel the vibration as well as hear it.

Them tunes

The music in 42nd Street is impossibly catchy. My feet fingers were tapping along throughout of their own volition. The combination of strong vocals and snappy tunes backed up by tap dancing is a combination that you cannot help but bob your head to. The songs were even better the second time around, proving how some music can age like fine wine.

Glitz

Something else 42nd Street has in abundance is bright lights and glitter. The costumes are brightly coloured and feature a vast quantity of sequins. During the most exciting parts of the show, bright lights illuminate everything that glitters and create a magical environment to make you forget any other world exists but that story. I loved the colours of the show and how they supported the story so perfectly.

42nd Street is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. It makes you feel like a time traveller going back to iconic Broadway show days where the lights were bright and there was no such thing as too much glitz and glamour. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who wants a great time and who doesn’t mind having songs stuck in their head for a while!
